Stop Toothache  Changing Your View Of Root Canals

Stop toothache pain and save your tooth with root canal treatment. I know you didn't want to hear that but there isn't a magical toothache pain reliever in a pill or special herb.

PLEASE don't write off a root canal to stop toothache pain before you understand what a root canal really is. Many patients have come to me very fearful because they thought that a root canal was a major dental surgical procedure.

A root canal is NOT surgery! It is more like getting a dental filling than it is a dental surgical procedure.

There are some things you can do for temporary tooth ache pain relief. But to permanently stop toothache pain you will probably be facing two options.

These two options are:

  1. Tooth Removal
  2. Root Canal Treatment

As an endodontist (root canal specialist) I would like to strongly encourage you to stop toothache pain without having your tooth removed.

You might think that the quickest, easiest, and cheapest way to relieve your tooth ache pain is by just taking the tooth out. People often make this decision because they are in such pain and are frustrated with their tooth.

But don't make your decision based on your frustration.

Another reason, though, is the horror stories that are out there about root canals. I've performed thousands of root canals and I can promise you that most of them are simple and painless procedures.

I've written The Relaxed Root Canal  to explain root canals and teach you how to relax for a root canal treatment.

When a tooth is removed the adjacent and opposing teeth will often shift to fill in the space left by the extracted tooth. This shifting can cause some rather complex problems to develop that may be expensive and time-consuming.

The reality is that you may very well spend more time and money by having your tooth removed to stop toothache pain.

You might be wondering why there isn't a toothache pain reliever that can just be prescribed. That's actually a very good question. The answer lies in understanding the source of your dental pain.

If your tooth ache pain is coming from inside your tooth it is because you have a diseased dental pulp. The tooth pulp is the soft tissue on the inside of your tooth. It contains nerve tissue and small blood vessels.

When this tissue gets inflamed it must be removed. Why can't you take medicine to stop toothache pain like you do for headaches and other kinds of pain? Because the dental pulp is trapped inside the hard tissues of your tooth. There isn't enough blood flow to the inside of your tooth for a medicine to cure your toothache.

Here's how to stop toothache pain: get the diseased pulp out of your mouth! You can do this by either taking the whole tooth out or leaving the tooth and cleaning out the pulp.

When you have a root canal your tooth will be made numb. A small opening is made in the tooth and the diseased pulp is cleaned out with small instruments and disinfecting solutions. The space created from this cleaning process is then filled with a root canal filling such as gutta percha or  Resilon.

If you've had a molar root canal you will almost always be encouraged to get a crown on the tooth. This helps prevent the tooth from cracking.

If you've had a front tooth root canal you may or may not need a crown. It will depend on how much of your natural tooth has been lost.

When you visit your dentist to stop toothache pain it is very possible that a root canal will be recommended. PLEASE having this simple and predictable dental procedure performed to save your tooth.

In Chapter 5 of The Relaxed Root Canal  I will give you THE ONE QUESTION YOU MUST ASK YOUR DENTIST BEFORE HAVING THE ROOT CANAL.

You must get a YES answer to this question. I'll give you my recommendation on what to do if you get a NO answer.

In Chapter 10 I'll tell you the one thing not to try at home to stop toothache pain. It is a very common home remedy to stop tooth ache pain. It will only make your pain and swelling worse. DO NOT TRY THIS HOME REMEDY TO STOP TOOTHACHE PAIN!
